Hi , .  The logic for expiring in >1 day is straight forward enough.  What if a user sets it to 0 or negative days?

I think the easiest way to create a file with expiration is to use spray (in ECLWatch) and set Expire in (days) parameter.

Where can I see an example of the logical file which has the expireDays attribute?

DFUQuery nor DFUInfo does not report any of these. You may need to report an ESP issue to return this
