Poster Abstract

Introduction:

Natural disasters are sudden and destructive events caused by natural forces, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. The strategic approach to reducing the effects of catastrophic disasters on human life, infrastructure, and the environment is need of the hour. Experts can identify high-risk places, susceptible people, and future disaster scenarios by analyzing historical data, patterns, and trends. Decision-makers can use historical data to influence their choices, allocate resources wisely, and put policies in place to lessen the effects of impending calamities, thereby saving lives and minimizing damage.

Objective:

An extensive visual representation of the frequency, severity, and effects of natural disasters across the continent is the goal of the project. The project aims to increase public awareness of how vulnerable Asian nations are to natural catastrophes like earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis etc. by utilizing ECL IDE. The visualization will facilitate informed decision-making and efficient disaster management techniques by assisting researchers, policymakers, and the general public in better understanding the patterns and trends of these events.

Methodology:

This project is done in multiple steps. To begin with, different datasets were collected from authorized websites that contains different fields. Next many inbuilt ECL functions are used to group the data and make it available in a proper understandable format. Important parameters that describe the seriousness and effect of the disaster are taken into consideration. Social consequences like Consumer Price Index (CPI) and topographical aspects like region wise calamity intensity are given importance. These are all represented visually through various mathematical tools like bar-graphs, pie-charts, linear graphs etc. which help analyzers, policymakers or government to take quick decision based on live statistical comparison that further help in Natural Disaster Management.
