HPCC Systems intern opportunities

Our internship program runs over the summer recess and lasts for 12 weeks. Application on to the program is by project proposal submission. We supply a list of projects. Students may choose a project idea from our list or suggest a suitable project themselves, which must leverage HPCC Systems in some way and be of interest to our open source community. University professors are welcome to work with students to suggest a proposal project and may also act as a mentor during the coding period. Each project proposal must be completed by one student only. No group projects are allowed.

Students may work from a LexisNexis office or remotely from their home or university. The program is open to students resident in any country where LexisNexis has an office. For US based students, the program runs from the end of May to mid August. We are happy to adjust these dates for students studying in other country location where semester dates may run to a diffferent schedule.

Each project has a mentor assigned who has expertise in that area. This mentor supports the student throughout the program. Our interns are absorbed into HPCC Systems platform as a regular team member, gaining valuable experience of working on a real world project alongside experienced software developers and architects while using the same tools and processes.  A welcome meeting before starting provides the perfect opportunity to meet the mentor for a chat, check in to make sure everything that is needed is ready and establish preferred communication methods and frequency.

All students are encouraged to take part in our community before, during and after their internship. We provide opportunities for students to present at one of monthly Tech Talks, write a weekly blog journal tracking their progress and experience and US based students are eligible to enter our annual Technical Poster Presentation Contest at our Community Day Summit held towards the end of the year. Our forums are a great place for students to learn from and share knowledge with our community members and our Gitter channels provide an easy and instant way to chat with developers about thoughts, ideas and issues.
