Meet our four 2022 Poster Contest judges. Three of our judges are colleagues representing different LexisNexis Risk Solutions Group teams and our external judge is a former HPCC Systems Intern who entered this contest in 2019 and 2020.
Judging focuses on the following categories:
Content -Â The originality of the project and relevance to the HPCC Systems open source platform and community.
Poster Design -Â The organization and the visual appeal of the poster as well as the relationship with the content.
Presentation -Â How the student communicated their ideas, including the flow and clarity of the video presentation.
Vannel Zeufack | Vannel joined the HPCC Systems Intern Program for the first time in 2019, completing a project which involved developing and assessing unsupervised anomaly detection methods using the HPCC Systems Platform. (Watch his Tech Talk Presentation / View Blog Journal). He was the 3rd Prize Winner at our 2019 Poster Contest (View Poster). In 2020, he returned to complete another internship which involved implementing a preprocessing bundle for the HPCC Systems Machine Learning Library, (View Poster/ Watch Tech Talk Presentation / View Blog Journal). Having previously seen this contest from the perspective of a student poster presenter, he knows how much work and dedication goes into the projects showcased at this event. Vannel joined DataSeers after graduating. Dataseers is an industry partner and user of HPCC Systems, who produce AI software for the banking and FinTech industry. | |
Dawn Riley | Dawn has been with LexisNexis Risk Solutions Group since 2008. She has spent most of that time working as a Business Analyst liaising between the Product Management and Technology teams. Three years ago, Dawn moved into the Technology organization which was a natural fit. She leads a team of Software Engineers and has a good understanding of how the HPCC Systems platform supports the MVR product suite. When Dawn isn’t helping the Insurance industry, she is helping the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) locate missing children by volunteering on the ADAM team. Dawn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida State University. She is a Certified Business Analysis ProfessionalTM, Certified ScrumMasterTM and Certified Scrum Product OwnerTM. | |
Allan Wrobel | Allan Wrobel is a longstanding user of HPCC Systems and over the years has contributed greatly to our open source platform and community. As well as providing feature and enhancement ideas using our Community Issue Tracker, he has also helped to locate and diagnose issues, leading to fixes which have benefited many of our users. He has become a regular feature of our community outreach speaking at our first ever Tech Talk Series in 2017 contributing more presentations over the years as well as taking part in our 5 Questions With Series. Allan's YouTube channel features ECL Tip and Tricks, providing short videos focusing on specific tasks such as using macros and various ECL functions. Many users have found Allan's YouTube Channel a valuable resource for practical guidance on using the ECL Language. | |
James McMullan | James has a broad range of Software Engineering experience from developing low level system drivers for X-Ray fluorescence equipment to mobile video games and web applications. He is a member of an internal R&D team where he has been working on multiple projects including HPCC Systems & Spark Benchmarks, integration projects between HPCC Systems and the Spark and Hadoop ecosystems as well as document storage systems. James spoke about the Spark HPCC Systems connector at our 2019 Community Day Summit, reviewing the basics of reading and writing to and from HPCC Systems using Spark, including some code examples. |
