Poster Abstract

Introduction:

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is widely regarded as one of the most powerful indicators of national development and economic progress. It measures the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country during a specific period. GDP per capita, derived by dividing the GDP by the total population, serves as an approximate measure of the standard of living and facilitates international comparisons. Current Health Expenditure as a percentage of GDP is another critical measure, providing insights into the level of resources allocated to health relative to other sectors. This metric highlights the societal importance placed on health and indicates the monetary priority given to the health sector within the overall economy.

Objective:

The primary objective of this study is to explore the interplay between GDP, GDP per capita, Population, and Current Health Expenditure (% of GDP) from 2000 to 2023 across top 10 GDP countries using ECL IDE. Additionally, the study examines changes in population and their impact on GDP and GDP per capita to understand demographic influences on economic metrics. Another key focus is to investigate the allocation of resources to health by examining Current Health Expenditure as a percentage of GDP, which serves as an indicator of the societal priority given to health within national economies. By integrating these variables, the research seeks to offer a comprehensive view of global economic and health dynamics, providing visualizations that encapsulate these complex relationships for easier interpretation and analysis.

Methodology:

To begin with, various datasets containing information on population, GDP, and Current Health Expenditure of countries were collected from the World Bank website. Following this, numerous built-in ECL functions were utilized to preprocess the data, ensuring it was transformed into a properly understandable format. Subsequently, graphical representations for each dataset were generated using HPCC Systems' Visualization bundle, enabling the derivation of meaningful conclusions from the visualized data.
