The PR restructures the way that disk reads work - so that meta information it obtained as a block of yaml/xml, and then interpreted by some classes that allow a generic disk read activity to be implemented.

Code is currently disabled by default in hthor, because it does not support file locking. That will be revisited later. Passes regression suite with it enabled.
