We want your experience of using HPCC Systems to be successful, so if you are having some problems getting up and running, need some advice about ECL, or have a specific aim in mind and don't quite know how to achieve it, there are ways for you to get help. We also want to know if you have found an issue or discovered a missing feature that may help you and other HPCC Systems users to achieve a goal more easily.
Register on our website and post in our forums to find out what's happening on our open source project, read about other users's experiences, ask questions and post comments (registration is required to post) which may be answered by other users or an HPCC Systems developer.
Our users tell us that they learn a lot from the developers who post in our forums on our website. Whether you are new to HPCC Systems or an experienced users, other developers may have found ways to solve problems similar to yours. It's a great place to go to spend some thinking time while you work out how to move on with your project.
Our GitHub repository is also a great resource for information about contributing. Readmes are scattered around the various repositories, providing usage information and guidelines.

I have a question/comment which forum should I use?
- General - Find out about new releases, events, job opportunities and our student intern program.
- Developers - Read and post comments about contributing to the sources, using ECL and our ECL IDE, programming and writing queries, bundle support and get Tips and Tricks for using ECL.
- Data Scientists - Read and post comments about machine learning, managing big data, data modeling, and help with ECL for data analysts.
- Administrators and operations - Get answers to questions on using the cloud or VM, installation, ECL Watch and system health.
- Migration - For those who want to learn more about migrating data from Hadoop, mainframe or RDMS.
- Tools and plugins - For users who are using external resources such as Eclipse, Java tools, Pentaho Kettle, and R.
- Miscellaneous - Post a questions or comment about online demos, training or the Reed Elsevier (our parent company) Environment Challenge.
- International - For our Chinese speaking users.
I've found an issue, what next?
- Discuss it in the Developers forum to see whether someone has already discovered it and found a solution or workaround.
- Check the HPCC Systems RedBook wiki. We may already know about the issue and have a solution or workaround available.
- Raise a JIRA ticket. Use our community issue tracker to log your issue and make sure the development team knows about it. Create an account to add a new ticket.
- Fix it! Review our code review checklist, our GIT commit message guidelines and check in your solution to our GitHub sources.
I've fixed an issue/coded a new feature or enhancement and want to make a contribution
- Overview of the contribution process. Thanks for contributing!
- Create a JIRA ticket to support your contribution. All pull requests must have a corresponding JIRA ticket. This helps other users to search for and find issues which are relevant to a problem they are having or research a potential solution related to their project.
- Write a blog post about your contribution and email it to us for posting in the blog area of our website. Other users will be interested in your use case which may be relevant to their own needs.
