Poster Abstract
Introduction:
Our project aims to analyze and visualize the prevalence of drug use in a population and the prices of drugs in different countries. By leveraging the power of HPCC ECL (Enterprise Control Language) for data processing and visualization, we can efficiently analyze large-scale datasets and create informative visualizations. Through the integration of diverse datasets and the use of visualization frameworks, we aim to provide valuable insights and facilitate exploration of drug use prevalence and drug prices. The resulting interactive dashboard will enable users to gain a comprehensive understanding of these important factors, supporting public health initiatives, policy making decisions, and further research in the field of drug use and economics.
Objective:
The objective of this project is to utilize HPCC Sytems to process and analyze datasets related to drug use prevalence and drug prices in different countries. By integrating the datasets and leveraging HPCC Systems data processing capabilities, we aim to calculate prevalence statistics, extract drug price information, and generate meaningful visualizations. The project's key objective is to create an interactive dashboard that allows users to explore and gain insights into the prevalence of drug use and drug prices across countries. By achieving this objective, we aim to contribute to informed decision-making in public health, policy development, and research related to drug use and economics.
Methodology:
The methodology for using HPCC Systems to visualize the prevalence of drug use in a population and drug prices in different countries using datasets:
• Data Collection and Preparation: Identify and gather relevant datasets that include information on drug use prevalence and drug prices in different countries. These datasets can come from reliable sources such as government agencies, international organizations, or research publications. Ensure the datasets are in a suitable format for processing in HPCC Systems. If necessary, perform data cleaning, filtering, and preprocessing to standardize the data and remove any inconsistencies.
• Data Integration: Utilize HPCC Systems to integrate the drug use prevalence and drug price datasets. The integration process should align the data based on common attributes, such as country or year. Apply any necessary data transformations or aggregations to ensure the datasets are ready for analysis and visualization.
• Prevalence Visualization: Use HPCC Systems to calculate prevalence statistics based on the integrated dataset. This can involve calculating prevalence rates, creating subsets of data based on different drug categories, or performing demographic analyses. Leverage visualization libraries or frameworks compatible with HPCC Systems, to create interactive and visually appealing visualizations. Examples could include choropleth maps showing drug use prevalence by country or bar charts comparing prevalence rates across different age groups.
• Drug Price Visualization: Employ HPCC ECL to process the integrated dataset and extract drug price information for different countries. Utilize appropriate statistical techniques in ECL to analyze the drug price data, such as calculating average prices, identifying price ranges, or comparing prices between countries. Implement visualization components in ECL, leveraging libraries like Matplotlib or Plotly, to create informative visualizations. This can include scatter plots showing the relationship between drug prices and other variables (e.g., income levels) or box plots displaying price distributions across countries.
• Interactive Dashboard: Combine the prevalence and drug price visualizations into an interactive dashboard using HPCC ECL and visualization frameworks
like Plotly Dash or Bokeh. Create user-friendly interfaces and features that allow users to explore the data, filter based on specific criteria (e.g., drug type or
region) and view different visualizations dynamically. Ensure the dashboard provides insights into drug use prevalence and drug prices across countries,
allowing users to gain a comprehensive understanding of the data. By following this methodology, you can use HPCC ECL’s data processing
capabilities and visualization libraries to analyze and visualize the prevalence of drug use in general population and drug prices across different countries.
